Multiple major champion Tiger Woods has confirmed he has gone under the knife yet again after he ruptured his Achilles.
Tiger Woods will almost certainly miss the 2025 Masters after the 15-time major champion confirmed he has ruptured his Achilles.
Woods confirmed the news with a rare statement on 11 March.
The five-time green jacket winner said he was ramping up his training sessions at home in Florida when he felt a ‘sharp pain’ in his left heel.
Sadly, a scan revealed that it was ruptured.
Woods went under the knife this morning. His surgeon, Charlton Stucken, said the procedure went smoothly.
“And we expect a full recovery,” Dr. Stucken said. Woods is now resting at home, he said.
His statement, as expected, gave no timeframe for a potential return.

This is the latest setback for the hall of famer, who is now 49 years old.
At the turn of the year, Woods expressed a desire to play more events on the PGA Tour in a bid to be sharper for the major championships.
Woods was in the field for the Genesis Invitational in February but withdrew following the death of his mother Kultida.
He looked in good physical shape during TGL contests and many expected the golfer to tee it up at famed TPC Sawgrass this week at the coveted Players Championship.
Woods also recently took part in the uber-exclusive Seminole Pro-Member and therefore it gave his legion of fans reason to believe he would play in the PGA Tour’s premiere event.
But on 6 March, Woods revealed after a TGL contest that his heart wasn’t really in practising right now.

“This is the third time I’ve touched a club since my mom passed so I haven’t really gotten into it,” Woods previously said.
“My heart is really not into practising right now. I’ve had so many other things to do with the Tour and trying to do other things.
“Once I start probably feeling a little bit better and start getting into it, I’ll start looking at the schedule.”
Woods was also referring to his role on the PGA Tour’s policy board.
This is the sixth consecutive year that he has missed The Players Championship.
The 144-man field contains 48 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, although several star names such as Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Cameron Smith are missing given the LIV players remained banned.
Woods has won The Players twice. First in 2001 and again in 2013.
This is the final year of his exemption from winning the 2019 Masters.
Woods has not played in an official PGA Tour event since last July’s Open Championship at Royal Troon.
He missed the cut in Scotland but brushed away any talk of retirement, insisting he was already looking forward to this July’s trip to Royal Portrush.
Last September, he had his sixth career surgery on his back.
