‘Huge flex’ golf fans react as Rory McIlroy changes social media bio after Masters win

‘Least humble brag I’ve seen’: Golf fans react after noticing Rory McIlroy has changed his social media bio after completing the career grand slam at The Masters.

Golf fans have been reacting after seeing Rory McIlroy has changed his social media bio following The Masters.

McIlroy, 35, became just the sixth player in the modern era to complete the career grand slam on Sunday.

The Northern Irishman joins fellow golf legends Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in the record books.

The victory marked McIlroy’s fifth career major title and his first in just shy of 11 years.

McIlroy has now headed home to Hollywood, County Down, to celebrate his victory with his Mum and Dad, who were not able to be there in person to see him slip on the coveted Green Jacket at famed Augusta National.

Wife Erica and daughter Poppy were there to celebrate alongside him though.

McIlroy claimed all of his dreams had come true after having achieved golf immortality at The Masters.

When McIlroy was a young boy he admitted during an interview his plan was to win a grand slam one day.

And to also do it all in one year, something that is now on the cards.

McIlroy will need to go on to win the US PGA, US Open and The Open this summer to achieve a grand slam in 2025.

The bookies have now priced up McIlroy at rather low 33/1 to complete a grand slam this season.

Hogan is the only player to have won The Masters, US Open and The Open in the same calendar year.

He achieved that at the age of 40.

Woods completed the Tiger Slam, winning four consecutive majors in a row but not in the same year.

That happened at the 2001 Masters.

Woods was aged 24 then.

Once McIlroy flew out of Georgia on Monday, he took to his social media channels to change his bio.

‘Grand slam winner’, now reads Mcilroy’s bio.

The World No.2 has also changed his profile photo to him wearing the green jacket and holding aloft the Masters trophy.

One-time PGA Tour winner and now on-course NBC Sports commentator Smylie Kaufman saw the funny side of McIlroy’s new bio.

‘I’m changing mine to Grand Slam participant,’ tweeted Kaufman, who won the 2015 Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.

Kaufman only played in five majors with his best result a T29 at The Masters.

He missed the cut in the other four.

McIlroy hit back at Kaufman at the end of 2024 when the former PGA Tour pro appeared to take aim at his caddie Harry Diamond

The Ulsterman has consistently defended his right-hand man and best pal Diamond, who has worked for him since 2017.

McIlroy first met Diamond when they were both playing junior golf as youngsters at Hollywood in Northern Ireland.
