Tommy Fleetwood secured his first PGA Tour title at last this weekend in Atlanta, Georgia, after 164 attempts.
However, the Englishman has several international wins and won his first European Tour title more than 10 years ago. At the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles in 2013, Fleetwood beat Stephen Gallacher and Ricardo Gonzalez and clinched the win with a sole birdie on 18. He said the win was “absolutely amazing” and a “lifetime goal.”
Fleetwood showed his true colors during the event by bringing his dog, Maisy, along with him during his victory laps. He told BBC Scotland at the time: “Maisy is 14, so she is getting on. She has supported me through all my tournaments – amateur, county, England.”
The now-34-year-old added at the time: “Scotland are nice about it. They let the dogs walk the course, most of the time. Any time we can get a tournament in Scotland, Maisy always comes. She has a great time.”
He revealed that his pet had been diagnosed with cancer a few weeks before and that they didn’t know how much longer she had left. “This might be her last time,” he explained.
Later on, in a 2017 blog for the European Tour, Fleetwood explained that he loved dogs and grew up with two Yorkshire terriers.
He explained that his family then got Maisie, which meant there were three dogs in the house.
He wrote: “I can’t help loving them. We have Cookie and Benji now. They are always so happy to see you, they’re great company, they’re there whenever you need them, they never argue back. It’s unconditional love.”

Fleetwood showed his love for furry friends last year at the DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, which allows dogs to attend if they stay on a leash. The golfer was spotted posing with a whole group of the pets in attendance.
At East Lake this weekend, Fleetwood won the FedExCup with a final score of 262 (18-under) and took home the $10 million prize. After securing the win, Fleetwood said: “When you’ve lost so many times, a three-shot lead down the last doesn’t feel like that many.
“This is hopefully just one win, the first of many to come. You cannot win plenty if you don’t win the first one.”
He was met with cheers from the crowd, which chanted “Tommy, Tommy, Tommy.” Reflecting on the win,
Fleetwood said: “[The fans] are amazing, it makes me a bit emotional. I’m so lucky with the support I get – it’s so special and I hope everyone knows how grateful I am for it.”
Justin Rose, Tiger Woods, LeBron James, and Billy Horschel were among those who offered their congratulations to the player on social media.
