Rory McIlroy even snubs talking to his own caddie as Masters behaviour brought up

Rory McIlroy’s latest Masters Tournament victory also delivered a significant payday for his long-time caddie and close friend, Harry Diamond.

After successfully defending his title at Augusta National Golf Club, McIlroy took home the winner’s share of $4.5 million. As is typical in professional golf, a portion of that prize goes to the caddie—meaning Diamond is set for a substantial bonus.

Diamond’s earnings from the win

Caddies usually receive around 10% of a player’s winnings for a victory. Based on that standard arrangement, Diamond is expected to earn roughly $450,000 from McIlroy’s triumph.

In addition to performance-based bonuses, caddies are also paid a weekly fee—generally between $1,500 and $4,000—to cover expenses such as travel and accommodation.

A partnership built on trust

McIlroy and Diamond share a long-standing relationship that extends beyond golf. Friends since childhood, Diamond has been on McIlroy’s bag since 2017 and even served as best man at his wedding.

Despite facing criticism earlier in their partnership, Diamond has remained a key figure in McIlroy’s success, particularly during his recent back-to-back Masters victories.

McIlroy has consistently acknowledged his caddie’s importance, previously stating that major victories are as much Diamond’s achievement as his own.

Role in a historic win

McIlroy’s 2026 triumph marked his second consecutive Masters title and sixth major overall, placing him among an elite group of players to defend the title successfully.

Throughout the tournament, Diamond played a crucial role in maintaining composure and decision-making under pressure—reinforcing why their partnership continues to deliver results at the highest level.
