Dustin Johnson Sends PGA Tour Warning After Proclaiming To Be The Best In The World

Dustin Johnson Sends Warning Ahead of PGA Championship: “I Still feel I’m the Best in the World”

Two-time major champion confident in form after special invite to Aronimink Golf Club

Dustin Johnson has signaled he remains a formidable contender as he prepares for next week’s PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. The LIV Golf star, who received a special invitation from the PGA of America, emphasized that his game is in a competitive position and he is aiming for his first PGA title.

“I feel my game is at a level where I can compete and contend,” Johnson told LIV Golf’s Matt Vincenzi. “The goal is to compete at the PGA Championship, and I believe my form is finally strong enough to do so.”

Johnson, captain of 4Aces GC, will extend an extraordinary streak of major appearances next week, marking his 69th consecutive start in a major championship and 18 years of uninterrupted participation in golf’s top events. He expressed gratitude to the PGA of America for the special invite, noting his long-standing support for the organization.

The 41-year-old American boasts two major titles, having won the U.S. Open at Oakmont in 2016 and the Masters at Augusta National in 2020. Despite currently being ranked 468th in the Official World Golf Rankings, Johnson remains confident in his abilities. “I still feel like I’m one of the best players in the world,” he stated.

After a period of inconsistent form, Johnson highlighted improvements in his driving as a key factor in renewed optimism. “Driving is the biggest part of my game, and it’s coming back,” he said. With his long game stabilizing, he is now able to focus on his short game, wedges, and putting, which he credits with boosting overall confidence.

Johnson has a strong history at the PGA Championship, finishing tied for fifth in 2010 and runner-up in 2019 and 2020, while Aronimink is a familiar venue from his 2018 BMW Championship experience. Following this week’s LIV Golf Virginia event, Johnson enters the PGA Championship with renewed belief that his game is reaching peak form at the perfect time.
