LIV Golf has trolled the PGA Tour after they suspended Wesley Bryan for competing in an influencer event, as golf’s civil war rumbles on despite talks over a potential merger
LIV Golf delivered a cheeky dig on social media aimed at the PGA Tour after Wesley Bryan was suspended for competing in a LIV influencer event.
He has competed in two PGA Tour influencer events in the past year and a similar event run by LIV Golf earlier this month at Doral. Since LIV Golf took off and divided professional golf, PGA Tour players who compete at the Saudi-backed circuit have faced suspensions, with the current penalty at a one-year suspension, leading to legend Phil Mickelson calling for the U.S. government to intervene.
The 35-year-old, who has 134 starts on the PGA Tour and won the 2017 RBC Heritage, has created a significant presence on social media and YouTube despite sliding results as a professional. Alongside his brother, George, Bryan has amassed over half a million followers on YouTube.
According to Golf Digest, Bryan was warned before participating in the LIV event. Following his suspension, LIV Golf’s X social media account poked fun at their rivals, the PGA Tour, sharing a clip of Bryan shouting: “That was my moment!” after sinking a putt at the influencer event.
Golf fans loved LIV Golf’s dig, and some suggested that Bryan join the breakaway tour. “Sign him! Easy PR win and bring in a younger demo…” one said. “We love the @bryanbrosgolf. please sign Wesley up! A community of more than 500K followers would love to see him play more professionally! Watching PGA tournaments on TV is nowadays boring and frustrating,” another stated.
“Sign him up! Would be an amazing Wildcard,” a third suggested. Nonetheless, Bryan has zero regrets over the move that landed him a suspension. “No, I don’t have regrets,” Bryan revealed to Monday Q Info’s. “That video is one of the most powerful videos in YouTube golf. We are going to continue to support Grant and grow the game through YouTube.”

Bryan also expressed gratitude to the PGA Tour despite its latest move. “For the last eight or nine years, the opportunities have been amazing,” Bryan said. “I’m extremely grateful to the Tour for that. I don’t want this to be the end of my professional golf career.”
As for the possibility of a merger between the PGA and LIV Golf, submitted a proposal for a deal to the Justice Department a few months ago with President Donald Trump keen to broker a deal. However, fast forward and despite Trump’s early confidence, there has been little movement since.
“I don’t think it’s ever felt that close,” Rory McIlroy, the 2025 Masters winner told reporters in early April. “But it doesn’t feel like it’s any closer.”
