Hull, who was a standout player, notably defeating World No.1 Nelly Korda 6&4 in the Sunday singles, described Pettersen as a “brilliant” captain.
When asked about the next captain, Hull enthusiastically backed Reid, saying, “Mel is one of my favorite people. She’s fun, serious when needed, and brings great energy to the team. I believe she’d make a fantastic captain.” Reid, who was an assistant captain, reciprocated the sentiment, sharing a funny story about her admiration for Hull during the U.S. Women’s Open coverage.
Pettersen, despite some criticism for her decisions—such as not playing Leona Maguire more—stated she had no regrets about her leadership. Maguire, on the other hand, admitted feeling disappointed about her limited involvement, suspecting Pettersen thought she didn’t make enough birdies or hit the ball far enough.
