Chiefs stay unbeaten after scrappy Super Bowl rematch

The Kansas City Chiefs remain the NFL’s only unbeaten team after defeating the San Francisco 49ers in a Super Bowl rematch, improving to 6-0.

Quarterbacks Patrick Mahomes and Brock Purdy faced significant challenges in a much more defensive game compared to their February matchup, but the Chiefs continue to prevail thanks to a strong defense.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings lost their perfect record to division rivals Detroit, where Jared Goff delivered another impressive performance.

Josh Allen also stood out, marking his 100th start for the Buffalo Bills.

Green Bay secured a tough victory over the Houston Texans, while Saquon Barkley returned to New York to haunt the Giants. Aaron Rodgers’ reunion with Davante Adams was spoiled by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In the Chiefs’ 28-18 victory, Mahomes has thrown more interceptions than touchdowns this season, but the team found success through four rushing touchdowns and solid defensive play. Mahomes had a career-long run of 33 yards and scored a rushing touchdown himself.

However, the true standout for Kansas City has been Steve Spagnuolo’s defense, which has now gone 27 consecutive games allowing 28 points or fewer. “It’s not always pretty, but we’ll find a way to win,” Mahomes stated.

For the 49ers, the situation was grim despite rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall’s debut, only 50 days after being shot.

They lost key players Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel, and Purdy struggled, throwing three interceptions.
