Zak Brown isn’t convinced by Red Bull’s claims of their “inaccessible” device.
He has called for Red Bull’s management and past and present mechanics to sign an affidavit confirming that they never used the car’s bib adjustment trick during parc ferme conditions.
Brown is advocating for a strong penalty, like exclusion, if it’s proven that Red Bull violated these rules. He referenced a report suggesting a hidden mechanism allowed teams to alter the car’s bib height during parc ferme,
which Red Bull acknowledged but claimed was not accessible once the car was fully assembled.
Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner, dismissed the concerns as paranoia from rivals, but Brown is determined to pursue the matter.
He stated that the only way to resolve these allegations is through formal affidavits. He emphasized that if they did alter the car in parc ferme, it constitutes a serious breach of regulations.
Brown plans to meet with FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem to further discuss the issue and suggests that if violations are confirmed, penalties must be significant to serve as a deterrent.
In the recent United States Grand Prix, Red Bull outperformed McLaren, narrowing the gap in the Constructors’ Championship to 40 points.
