A Ferrari Formula 1 driver is anxiously awaiting a potential sanction from the FIA following the Mexican Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz secured victory for Ferrari, while Lando Norris prevented a one-two finish by overtaking Charles Leclerc in the final moments of the race.
Max Verstappen finished sixth, behind Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Verstappen received two 10-second penalties for multiple close encounters with Norris early in the race.
Leclerc may also face an FIA penalty.
Known for his previous infractions, Verstappen was recently reprimanded for inappropriate language during a press conference in Singapore.
After Norris passed Leclerc for second place, the Ferrari driver had a tense moment as he struggled with tire degradation, nearly losing control of his car.
He admitted to expressing frustration in the moment, saying, “oh f***.” Realizing he might face a similar reprimand, Leclerc exclaimed, “Oh no! I don’t want to join Max!”
It remains uncertain whether the FIA will impose a penalty on him as they did with Verstappen or if they’ll consider it an innocent mistake.
