Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc remained silent regarding Max Verstappen’s ‘unfair’ driving during the cool-down room at the Mexico GP.
Norris, who finished second, was involved in two incidents with Verstappen, who received a 10-second penalty for forcing Norris off the track at Turn 4 while he was attempting to overtake.
Verstappen faced another penalty at Turn 7 after Norris re-entered the track ahead of Carlos Sainz.
After returning the position to Sainz, Norris was again forced off by Verstappen. Both drivers had notable reactions to these incidents after the race.
Norris smiled wryly and chuckled quietly while watching the replay, exchanging a glance with Leclerc but remaining silent, which contrasted with his more vocal mid-race response.
Norris criticized Verstappen’s driving style, stating, “This guy is dangerous. It’s the same as last time. I could end up in a wall.”
He expressed that Verstappen deserved his penalties, saying, “I did everything according to the rules, yet it just wasn’t to be. He got penalties for that.”
Norris emphasized his desire for fair competition, noting, “I want to have good battles with him… But fair ones.”
He acknowledged that racing against Verstappen is always challenging, asserting, “It was not fair, clean racing, and therefore, I think he got what he had coming to him.”
Verstappen reacted to his penalties with a mix of acceptance and frustration, initially saying, “That is fine, then,” followed by, “That is so silly, man.”
The events in Mexico have set the stage for an exciting showdown in the Drivers’ Championship, with Verstappen leading with 362 points and Norris in second at 315 points as they head into the Brazil GP.
