Toto Wolff stated that if the rules are interpreted or executed in a way that permits certain racing tactics, drivers like Max Verstappen will take advantage of it.
At the Mexican Grand Prix, Verstappen was finally penalized for his aggressive driving, receiving two ten-second penalties—one for forcing Lando Norris off the track and another for gaining an advantage after leaving the track.
Wolff believes these penalties will curb the “exploitation of rules.”
He remarked that drivers will always push their limits, but now there’s a new interpretation of the regulations that will change how everyone races in the future.
He emphasized that drivers must leave space for opponents and that dragging another car off the track while going wide is no longer acceptable.
