Lewis Hamilton, along with his Mercedes teammate George Russell, is facing an FIA investigation during the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The inquiry centers on adjustments made to their tire pressures after the initial race start was canceled.
The FIA stated: “On the grid, when the race start was aborted, between the 10-minute and 5-minute signals, the tire pressures on cars 63 and 44 were adjusted while the wheels were already fitted.”
The situation unfolded unusually, beginning with Lance Stroll from Aston Martin crashing into a sign during the formation lap, which ultimately halted the race. This confusion led to several cars performing additional formation laps, drawing FIA scrutiny.
Importantly, teams are not allowed to make modifications to their cars during this time, and the investigation will determine if Mercedes violated this rule by adjusting tire pressures while the wheels were still attached.
The outcome is pending, with Hamilton currently in P11 and Russell in P5 as the race remains under a red flag.
