Jamal Murray has made a huge jump up the rankings.

If there’s one player who deserves a significant boost after last year’s playoffs, it’s Jamal Murray. Luckily for fans, it seems like Murray is actually getting this recognition from major media outlets.

Last season, Jamal Murray ranked 50th on ESPN’s rankings. This number seems very low for a player who just performed so well in the 2020 NBA Playoffs, but he suffered an ACL tear. If Murray had to prove himself to NBA analysts then so be it, that’s exactly what he did.

After the championship playoff match, Jamal Murray was ranked 33 places higher by ESPN, rising to 17th place in this year’s player rankings. It’s great to see Murray recognized among the top 20 players in the NBA, especially after returning from injury. Some players listed higher than Murray are:

Bam Adebayo, Donovan Mitchell, Damian Lillard, Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler and Devin Booker. While it’s debatable whether any of these players are better than Murray, it’s surprising to hear him converse like them. What’s even more astonishing about Jamal Murray’s comeback story is that he has never made the All-Star team despite being a top 20 NBA player. Every player listed above him is a former NBA All-Star, and if this list proves anything, it’s Jamal’s turn this year.
