Will Barton, former Denver Nuggets guard, has worked with the Golden State Warriors

A recent report from HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto revealed that former Denver Nuggets guard Will Barton was part of a group of veteran free agents who recently worked for the Golden State Warriors. Golden State has several positions available and appears to be targeting impactful veterans for those final spots.

Barton spent eight seasons with the Nuggets and is second in franchise history in three-pointers made. After spending time with the Washington Wizards and Toronto Raptors last season, Barton is looking for another job in the NBA.

During his career, Barton averaged 11.1 PPG. His best season came with the Nuggets in 2018 when he played in 81 games and averaged 15.7 PPG. While Barton isn’t the same player he was during his time in Denver, he could still be a solid depth option for a contender. Just two seasons removed from averaging 14.7 PPG as a starter for the Nuggets, Barton may still have some scoring ability at 32 years old.

The Warriors are looking at a number of different options to fill out their roster, and while one of those available spots will likely go to a veteran big man, there could be a forward/ extra protection for someone like Barton. As Golden State looks to bounce back from a second-round exit, filling out their bench will be crucial.
