Tyrrell Hatton couldn’t contain his anger as he made a mistake early on in his final round at the Masters and the LIV Golf star produced an expletive-laden blast in the course’s direction
LIV Golf star Tyrrell Hatton directed his anger at the course after suffering an early setback in his final Masters round on Sunday.
Hatton came into the day 4-under after shooting level par on Saturday and a stunning 66 on Friday. He started strongly with a birdie on the par-5 second but dropped a shot at the 251-yard par-3 fourth. It was a poor mistake from the Englishman.
The 34-year-old, who is known for lashing out on occasion, was visibly angry. Shakes of the head and mutterings under his breath ensued before he found the bottom of the cup on his fourth attempt.
The anger was clearly simmering, and as he put away his putter, a seething Hatton blasted, “This place is f—— bulls—.”
Funnily enough, it wasn’t the only time patrons had to cover their ears because Wyndham Clark produced his own X-rated blast just moments later.
Making an almost identical mistake, in the following group, with his par putt lipping out to give him a bogey, Clark shouted, ‘F—!’.
Hatton’s day did get better shortly after. A hole-out eagle on the seventh was followed by a birdie on 8, which would have put him in a much better mood.
If Hatton’s struggle on the fourth was anything to do with how firm the greens are in the baking Augusta heat, he wasn’t the only golfer to have issues.
“Preparation-wise and what to do. But it’s hard to say how much I learned because I don’t think we ever seen a Masters this firm and I don’t know how long tease going to be until we do again. Both off the tee and on the greens.
“Have you ever seen looking down the property how yellow the patron areas and how brown and purple parts of the greens and fairways are?
“It will be a long time until we see it like this. Definitely have some things in mind for future editions where it gets to this level.”
