Lewis Hamilton has reportedly already decided when he will retire from Formula 1, according to claims.
The seven-time world champion has been competing at the highest level since his debut with McLaren in 2007.
After securing a world title with McLaren, Hamilton moved to Mercedes in 2013, where he cemented his legacy as one of the sport’s greatest drivers.
However, the past few years have been challenging for Hamilton, as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen has emerged as the dominant force in F1, with Hamilton’s last championship win coming in 2020.
In 2025, Hamilton is expected to join Ferrari, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career, with hopes of once again competing for a championship.
Matt Whyman, author of Inside Mercedes F1: Life in the Fast Lane, has shared insights from his conversations with Hamilton while preparing his book.
Whyman spent 18 months working closely with the Mercedes team, gaining exclusive access to its key figures.
In an interview with The Mirror, Whyman revealed that Hamilton’s upcoming move to Ferrari was a topic of discussion.
The British driver disclosed that he has a clear plan for his retirement and knows when he will end his career.
According to Whyman, Hamilton explained, “It’s every kid’s dream to race a Ferrari. I didn’t want to get to the end of my career and think, what if?” Hamilton emphasized that he feels accomplished with his victories at Mercedes but views racing for Ferrari as the one thing missing from his career.
He added, “I don’t want to walk away and regret not having done that.”
