Lewis Hamilton had a difficult day racing in Abu Dhabi on Friday, but has not assessed his chances of qualifying at the Yas Marina circuit.

Lewis Hamilton gave a harsh assessment of his chances of qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion finished FP2 in 8th place as Frederic Vesty missed his first session while taking part in his second practice session of the season.

FP2 was interrupted by two red flags, restricting participation for all riders and further inconveniencing those who missed  the first session.

Hamilton says he has no discomfort with the car, but he hopes to be able to race more  in free practice 3 before qualifying on Saturday.

When asked if he was happy with the day, Hamilton said: “Not really, no, it wasn’t the best day.

” “I think we actually only did about four timed laps, which isn’t that much in one day considering our knowledge of the car and the course.
” “The car doesn’t feel bad, we feel good too.
Not bad.

I hope to run a little more (on Saturday).
Hamilton hints at trouble in qualifying  Hamilton, who has already failed in the second round three times this year, faces trouble again in Abu Dhabi.
suggested that it might be possible.
“We’ll see if there’s a way to get into Q3,” Hamilton said.

“Qualifying is difficult, it’s always been an uphill battle to get from Q1 to Q2. Even  getting to the third quarter is difficult.
“Saturday morning’s work is to make sure we get into the third quarter, I think it’s  close.

“George (Russell) is looking good and maybe in a better position, but he didn’t miss FP1.
But I’m not going to make  excuses, I’m  going to keep going.”
