Mercedes announce Hamilton change ahead of Las Vegas GP

Mercedes has revealed a change involving Lewis Hamilton ahead of the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The reigning champion is preparing for his final three races with Mercedes before moving to Ferrari in 2025.

Despite securing six world titles and shattering numerous records with the team, Hamilton’s last season with Mercedes has been marred by the inconsistent performance of the W15 car.

His recent results in Austin, Mexico, and Brazil have left him frustrated, and his post-race interviews have reflected his confusion over the team’s struggles.

Hamilton’s replacement at Mercedes in 2025 will be young driver Kimi Antonelli, who will make his full-time debut next season.

For now, Hamilton will aim to maximize his results in his final races with Mercedes, though he is undoubtedly eyeing Ferrari, who have shown impressive pace recently.

Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz secured wins in the US and Mexico, helping Ferrari leapfrog Red Bull into second place in the Constructors’ Championship.

However, Hamilton will have to wait until 2025 to benefit from Ferrari’s newfound speed, where he aims to pursue a record-breaking eighth world title.

Additionally, Mercedes has announced another change for Hamilton ahead of the final races of 2024: a helmet redesign.

Following a competition where UK students were tasked with creating a new helmet for the champion, the winning designs will be worn by Hamilton at the Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix.
