Denver Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth didn’t hesitate with this answer.

Speaking with The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor, Denver Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth was asked about the team’s trade talent. Young squire Bones Hyland. In his answer, Booth made a shocking comment about Michael Porter Jr., saying that the team cannot have two terrible defenders who are equally focused on themselves.

“I know there can’t be two guys who can’t defend, and we can’t have two guys who are young and a little bit more ‘me you guys,'” Booth told O’Connor. “Mike made $30 million. He is one of the best shooters in the NBA. So, Bones, there’s no more room for you.

Complicating Porter’s shooting, Booth was also brutally honest about his defense and playing style, saying the Nuggets couldn’t have two players like that. This is a shocking admission from Booth, because while his assessment makes sense, it is uncommon for a team executive to candidly describe the shortcomings of a current player.

With Hyalnd now playing for the LA Clippers, the young guard will have the opportunity to be their backup point guard this season. To prove that Denver made a mistake in giving up on him too early, Bones is expected to become an important piece of the Clippers’ puzzle this season. As for Porter, he certainly needs to improve defensively, but he was a key part of the Nuggets team that just won it all.
