Packers-Eagles Tuesday Injury Report: A Setback?

On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers’ injury report showed that running back MarShawn Lloyd did not practice, while receiver Romeo Doubs participated in limited drills due to a hand injury.

At the Don Hutson Center, rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd was seen using a stationary bike, while the rest of the Packers practiced on Clarke Hinkle Field in preparation for their Week 1 game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil on Friday night. Lloyd, who had participated in individual drills on Sunday and Monday, was the only player out of the 70-man roster who did not practice.

Head coach Matt LaFleur addressed Lloyd’s status, noting there was no setback, just part of the recovery process. The initial injury report also listed Doubs (hand), cornerback Carrington Valentine (hamstring), running back Emanuel Wilson (hip), and linebacker Edgerrin Cooper (hip) as limited participants.

Doubs, a key offensive starter and trusted playmaker for quarterback Jordan Love, is dealing with a hand contusion. Doubs mentioned that the injury is day-to-day and, while he was able to catch passes, he couldn’t confirm his status for Friday’s game, emphasizing it remains a day-to-day situation.

The Eagles’ injury report includes linebacker Devin White (ankle) and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers (hand). Additional reports will be released on Wednesday as the team travels to Sao Paulo, and Thursday, on the day before the game, during a walk-through in Brazil. Currently, it appears only Lloyd might have an injury designation by Thursday’s final report.

Lloyd, who suffered a hamstring injury during his second touch in the preseason opener against Cleveland, has missed the final two preseason games and the rest of training camp. He is unsure if he will be ready for the game against the Eagles but remains hopeful, acknowledging the long season ahead and his readiness whenever he is called upon.

If Lloyd is unable to play, the Packers might need to consider adding another running back before the game. With AJ Dillon on injured reserve, the team’s only other running backs on the 53-man roster are Josh Jacobs and Emanuel Wilson. Practice squad options include Ellis Merriweather and La’Mical Perine. While LaFleur typically avoids relying heavily on a single running back, he may need to adapt against the Eagles. Jacobs, with five seasons of experience and a history of high workload, is ready to step up. Jacobs expressed his eagerness to showcase his skills and earn the respect of his teammates and coaches, hoping to make a significant impact.
