“She’s probably lying”: Lewis Hamilton fans react after Kamala Harris claims 7-time F1 champion to be her favorite driver

Fans reacted in disbelief to US presidential candidate Kamala Harris mentioning Lewis Hamilton as her favorite F1 driver. She also claimed that her entire family watches the sport.

F1 has recently peaked at new levels of popularity across the globe. With three Grands Prix in the United States alone, it has become a staple for motorsports fans in the country alongside NASCAR and IndyCar. Harris, who is a presidential candidate, revealed that she watches Formula 1 with her family, too.

When host Howard Stern asked her about her favorite driver, she said it was Mercedes driver Hamilton.

“We love it our whole family does!” Harris said.

“Who is your favorite driver?” Stern asked.

“Lewis Hamilton, of course. He’s leaving Mercedes. You don’t watch Formula 1? once you start I think, you should see it you might get hooked,” she replied.

As this clip went viral on social media amongst Formula 1 and Hamilton fans, some of them didn’t completely believe Harris. Many comments mentioned that she did not even watch the sport, let alone have a favorite driver. One user wrote:

“She’s probably lying. But okay, if it makes you happy…”

Positive news for Lewis Hamilton as he prepares his Ferrari move

Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari in 2025 was announced prior to the start of the season. He is set to leave Mercedes after an amazing career with the Brakley-based team.

It is evident that the Brit is preparing to win his record-breaking eighth F1 title with the Italian team. However, it is currently tough to say if Ferrari is in a position to win the title. Although they have won multiple races this season, they sit third in the Constructors’ championship. But the team might be in a good position for the 2025 F1 season.

Charles Leclerc, discussing their performance for the coming seasons, said it will progressively improve every season. He said, speaking to The Race and ESPN:

“We are seeing quite a lot of gains. We just need time to bring those upgrades on the car.”

When asked if Ferrari could be challenging for the title next season, he replied positively.

“Yes. It is. That will be the headline! Obviously it is a constant process that keeps evolving and the goal is to always make it better. So I would say that ’25 will be good, ’26 will be better and ’27 will be even better and we optimise everything. But it’s all relative.”

Hamilton has so far won two races this season, for the first time in two seasons. His last win prior to the 2024 British Grand Prix was in Saudi Arabia in 2021.
