Nikolas Tombazis, the FIA’s head of single-seaters, expressed satisfaction with how the case regarding Red Bull Racing’s front bib clearance was handled. He clarified that the FIA does not plan to retroactively investigate if the mechanism was used previously by the team.
Tombazis emphasized that there were no clear indications of wrongdoing by Red Bull. He reiterated the FIA’s position that starting from this race, such mechanisms must not be adjustable. After reviewing Red Bull’s design, the FIA is confident the team is complying with the regulations.
While McLaren CEO Zak Brown has questioned Red Bull’s explanations and called for an investigation into potential past infractions, Tombazis confirmed that such an inquiry will not occur. He noted the changes in ride height involved are minimal and that there’s no evidence suggesting Red Bull exploited the mechanism previously.
Currently, McLaren leads Red Bull by 41 points in the Constructors’ Championship, while Max Verstappen has a 52-point advantage over Lando Norris in the Drivers’ standings.
