The 2026 Presidents Cup has brought together 24 of the world’s leading golfers at Medinah Country Club, with Team USA and the International team battling for one of golf’s most prestigious team trophies.
Unlike a regular PGA Tour event, however, the players are not competing for a traditional prize purse based on their finishing positions.
Instead, every golfer participating in the Presidents Cup will receive an equal $250,000 stipend, regardless of how many matches they win or how many points they contribute to their team.
That means there is no separate winner’s check for the players who help their team lift the Presidents Cup.

The 24 golfers account for $6 million of the total payments, with each player taking home exactly $250,000.
The remaining $2.5 million goes to the two captains and eight assistant captains, who also receive $250,000 each.
This makes the Presidents Cup payout structure very different from a normal PGA Tour tournament. There is no individual leaderboard determining how much each player earns, meaning Scottie Scheffler receives the same player stipend as every other member of Team USA.
The same applies to the International team, with all 12 players receiving an identical payment.
The $250,000 stipend system was introduced in 2022. Before then, Presidents Cup participants did not receive personal payments. Instead, money was allocated toward charitable causes selected by the players, captains and assistant captains.
The current arrangement gives participants the $250,000 stipend while the Presidents Cup continues to maintain its charitable component.
For the players, however, the financial payment is only one part of the experience.
The bigger prize remains the opportunity to represent their team and compete for the Presidents Cup, with every match contributing toward the final team result.
So, when it comes to the 2026 Presidents Cup, there is no traditional prize-money ladder.
Every golfer receives $250,000, while the captains and assistant captains receive the same amount.
Across all 24 players, two captains and eight assistant captains, the total participant payout comes to $8.5 million.
