England’s Matt Fitzpatrick captures his first ever Open de France title as he continues the greatest season of his career.
Matt Fitzpatrick claimed the Open de France title at Le Golf National in Paris, securing his fourth victory of the season after holding off Angel Hidalgo by three shots.
Fitzpatrick began the final round with a five-shot lead but saw his advantage cut to two after a strong early charge from Eugenio Chacarra.
The Spaniard’s challenge faded with a double-bogey on the 13th, while Fitzpatrick responded with birdies at the 13th and 15th to regain control.
The Englishman eventually carded a 70 to finish 20-under par, with Hidalgo second on 17-under par.
Matthieu Pavon, Kristoffer Reitan, Chacarra and Tom Vaillant rounded out the top five on 15-under par.
Fitzpatrick collects a cool $637,500 from the $3.75 million purse.

Fitzpatrick claims fourth win of 2026
Fitzpatrick’s victory is his 11th DP World Tour title and his fourth win of 2026.
The 32-year-old has now won three times on the PGA Tour this season and once on the DP World Tour.
He also moved 30 places in the Race to Dubai standings, climbing from 39th to ninth.
Hidalgo’s runner-up finish earned him qualification for the 155th Open at St Andrews next July.
Fitzpatrick’s victory comes just weeks after he and his wife Katherine welcomed their first child, Jack.
