Bryson DeChambeau’s strong finish at the 2026 Open Championship will reportedly come with a significant tax bill.
The LIV Golf star finished tied for 14th at Royal Birkdale, earning $234,325 from the tournament’s record $17.75 million prize fund.
However, under current UK tax rules, a substantial portion of those earnings is expected to go toward taxes.
Based on the UK’s top income tax rate, DeChambeau is estimated to owe approximately $105,446 in tax, leaving him with roughly $128,879 before any additional deductions or expenses.
The exact amount DeChambeau ultimately pays could vary depending on his tax residency, applicable tax treaties, deductible expenses, and any foreign tax credits available in the United States.
While the estimated tax bill represents a sizeable deduction from his prize money, DeChambeau still walks away with a six-figure payday after another solid performance in golf’s oldest major.
The two-time U.S. Open champion also spent much of the week in the spotlight after receiving a controversial two-shot penalty during the second round, but he battled through the setback to finish inside the top 15 at Royal Birkdale.
