The DP World Tour has officially confirmed that Jon Rahm will return to Wentworth later this month for the BMW PGA Championship, adding another major name to an already star-studded field.
The two-time major champion will compete at the DP World Tour’s flagship event from September 17-20, joining several of Europe’s biggest Ryder Cup stars, including Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood, Viktor Hovland, Tyrrell Hatton, Justin Rose and Matt Fitzpatrick.
For Rahm, the announcement comes at a particularly intriguing moment.
The Spaniard has enjoyed considerable success at Wentworth without yet managing to get his hands on the BMW PGA Championship trophy. He finished runner-up in both 2019 and 2022, while also recording a fourth-place finish in 2023.
Rahm made no secret of his desire to finally complete the job this year.
“I’ve come close to winning a couple of times at the BMW PGA Championship, so it’s definitely a tournament and venue that I enjoy coming back to.
“Everything about it, from the fans to the history of the event, makes it a special week and I would love to go one better and lift the trophy this year.”
