Bryson DeChambeau has reacted to Sergio Garcia’s reported departure from LIV Golf, paying tribute to the former Masters champion and acknowledging the impact the Spaniard has had on the league since its launch.
Garcia, one of LIV Golf’s original signings and captain of Fireballs GC, has reportedly decided to move on after several seasons with the circuit, prompting reactions from players across the golf world.
Speaking about Garcia’s reported exit, DeChambeau praised the veteran Spaniard for his leadership and contributions to team golf.

“Sergio has meant a lot to LIV Golf from the very beginning,” DeChambeau said. “He’s a major champion, a Ryder Cup legend and someone who has always brought passion and energy to the game.”
Garcia joined LIV Golf in 2022 and quickly became one of the league’s most recognizable figures. His Fireballs team enjoyed considerable success, while his experience helped shape the league during its early years.
DeChambeau acknowledged that Garcia’s departure would be felt throughout the locker room.
“When you lose someone with that much experience, people notice,” DeChambeau explained. “He’s been an important voice and a great competitor.”
Despite the disappointment surrounding the reported exit, DeChambeau expressed support for Garcia’s future decisions.
“At the end of the day, every player has to make the choices that are best for themselves and their families,” he said. “I have a tremendous amount of respect for Sergio.”
The reported departure comes amid ongoing discussions surrounding LIV Golf’s future, including possible financial restructuring, outside investment opportunities and changes to the league’s long-term plans.
Several players have publicly voiced confidence in the future of LIV Golf, while others have acknowledged that uncertainty remains as the league continues to evolve.
DeChambeau, one of LIV’s biggest stars, reiterated his belief in the league’s future despite Garcia’s reported exit.
“I still believe in what we’re building,” he said. “The game is changing, and LIV continues to move forward.”
Garcia’s potential departure would mark one of the most significant exits in the league’s history, given his status as a major champion and one of Europe’s most successful Ryder Cup players.
His contributions both on and off the course helped establish LIV Golf during its early years and made him one of its most recognizable ambassadors.
As speculation continues regarding Garcia’s next move, DeChambeau made it clear that his relationship with the Spaniard extends beyond competition.
“He’s a friend and someone I admire,” DeChambeau said. “Whatever comes next for him, I wish him nothing but success.”
For now, the golf world awaits further clarity regarding Garcia’s future, while DeChambeau and other LIV stars continue preparing for the next chapter of the league.
